Spiritual awakening isn’t just found in plant medicine—our own individuation process can lead us to transformative insights. – Dr. Rob Maldonado
If you want to become a life coach and wonder how you can help others, listen to our recent Soul Sessions podcast episode to explore how our unique Jungian coaching model is the future of coaching.
There has been a resurgence of interest in the psychology of Jung over the past few years, especially Shadow Work.
According to Carl Jung, the Swiss Psychologist, the “shadow” is a part of our personal unconscious mind that contains personality traits that we deem unacceptable.
As we develop early in life, the traits that are not adaptable in your family, culture and religion are often rejected and repressed into your shadow.
Reclaim the lost parts of yourself
Shadow work is not about healing the past but a powerful process of reclaiming these lost parts of ourselves and integrating them back into our life so we can use them for creative energy.
A great way to see what is in your shadow is to think about someone who irritates you.
Imagine the labels you give them…selfish, mean, demanding, angry, boastful, successful?
Dropping The Labels of the Shadow
If you drop the judgment around these labels, you may see how limiting it can be to avoid expressing these traits.
-Do you hide your successes so you don’t make others feel bad or jealous?
-Do you over give so no one labels you as selfish?
-Do you stuff your feelings to avoid expressing anger because it doesn’t fit your spiritual persona?
In this week’s podcast, Soul Sessions: A Jungian Coaching Podcast, we interviewed Shadow Work expert, Connie Zweig, Ph.D., a retired Jungian therapist and author of Meeting the Shadow (A New Edition is now available) and Romancing the Shadow (A New Edition is now available) plus other great titles.
In our in-depth interview, we discussed:
- Discover the power of identifying and working with shadow figures such as the inner judge or procrastinator.
- Learn practical methods and cues to recognize when your shadow is emerging in everyday life.
- Understand the impact of shadow work on relationships and how embracing this personal journey can transform interactions and deepen connections.
- Explore the phenomenon of spiritual bypassing and the critical need to balance spiritual aspirations with psychological development.
This episode promises to enrich your understanding and offer practical tools so you can embrace all parts of yourself, creating a more authentic and fulfilling life.
