Have you been seeking your purpose and discovering that it is to be a coach? Do you feel pulled to help others find their soul work?

Jungian Coaching is ideal for Purpose Coaches, which is one of the most popular niche areas that our graduates work with in their coaching business.

In this episode, we explore the path of spiritual coaching, particularly how it applies to Jungian life coaching, and what makes this approach unique and life-changing.

The Distinctiveness of Jungian Spiritual Coaching

In this series, we’ve explored various forms of coaching, including relationship, executive, and purpose coaching. All these serve valuable needs, yet spiritual coaching stands apart. Many of our students have joined to help others navigate their spiritual lives. Jungians spiritual coaching is unique because it focuses on the depth of the human spirit through the Jungian model.

What is Spiritual Coaching?

Spiritual coaching helps clients connect with their true essence. It assumes that everyone has a spiritual core, and the coach’s role is to aid the client in accessing this inner wisdom. Spirituality here is broad, not confined to any particular religion – whether you’re new age, Christian, Buddhist, or even agnostic, spiritual coaching can guide you.

It’s important to differentiate between spiritual coaching and spiritual advising. While spiritual advising involves the advisor providing insights and predictions, spiritual coaching empowers clients to discover their own truths and intuitions. In essence, the client holds the answers, and the coach facilitates the discovery process.

The Jungian Approach to Spiritual Coaching

Jungian coaching is deeply rooted in the spiritual dimensions of human psychology. Carl Jung posited that beyond the primal human drives Freud recognized, there lies a spiritual urge – a compulsion to connect with something greater. Jung’s exploration into the occult and metaphysical was driven by his quest to understand these deeper layers of the human psyche.

The Collective Unconscious

A cornerstone of Jungian psychology is the concept of the collective unconscious. This idea suggests that there are universal symbols, dreams, and motifs shared across humanity, evident even in disparate cultures. These elements are difficult to measure directly but manifest universally. Understanding and working with the collective unconscious can lead to profound personal breakthroughs.

Midlife Crisis and the Quest for Meaning

At midlife, many experience what Jung termed the “individuation process,” a journey from ego identification to realization of the true self. This transition often coincides with existential questioning and is sometimes triggered by life’s upheavals. Jungian spiritual coaching offers a roadmap for navigating this journey, helping individuals transcend their conditioning and connect to their soul’s purpose.

Practical Applications of Jungian Spiritual Coaching

  1. Purpose Seeking:

For those yearning for profound meaning, beyond mere career aspirations, spiritual coaching can provide clarity on their spiritual purpose in life.

  1. Relationships:

Healthy relationships require a connection to one’s true self. Spiritual relationship coaching helps individuals attract partners aligned with their authentic selves, rather than mere personas.

  1. Business and Leadership:

Entrepreneurs and leaders benefit from operating beyond their ego, integrating spiritual principles to create a fulfilling life.
