Are you wondering why love doesn’t last or never really clicks in the first place? This is a great episode about romantic love and the shadow for singles, married and those in long-term relationships.
If you want to become a life coach and wonder how you can help others, listen to our recent Soul Sessions podcast episode to explore how our unique Jungian coaching model is the future of coaching.

Why do we fall in love and what makes love last?

In Jungian Depth Coaching, we explore relationships at a deeper level. Who are you attracted to and why do they trigger you, break your heart or become the love of your life?

When we first “fall” in love, we project the lighter aspects of our shadow onto the person. The mystical “other” becomes all the wonderful things that we don’t fully accept in ourselves. We see them as perfect and amazing and get swept off of our feet. They could do no wrong. You feel all the feels and life has never been grander.

Then, as the relationship continues, the projection of the lighter shadow fades and you start to project the darker aspects of your shadow. They now seem to have flaws, bad behaviors or aspects that turn you off. These are also parts of you that you don’t want to accept. You may start to criticize them, feel disrespected and even fear they are pulling away.

In order to form a lasting bond, shadow work is incredibly important. If you don’t do your shadow work, you may keep changing partners until each time the magic fades or you end up settling for a mediocre relationship because being alone is much more difficult.

If you understand and integrate your shadow projections, you can shift the type of person you are attracted to if you are single. If you are married or in a LTR, you may discover a deeper, more intimate connection with your partner. The more you accept yourself, you allow yourself to feel accepted.

In this week’s Soul Sessions by CreativeMind, we explore Love and the Shadow in Relationships. Check out this episode to learn more, including

  • Uncovering the Shadow: Understand how the unacknowledged aspects of our personality, known as the shadow, play a significant role in romantic love. Both positive and negative traits we keep hidden in our unconscious minds have powerful impacts on our relationships.
  • Handling Projections: Gain valuable insights into managing our unconscious projections and how stressors like finances and children can amplify these dynamics, sometimes leading to conflict.
  • Conscious Chemistry: Introduce the idea of “conscious chemistry” to build relationships with intention and awareness, moving beyond mere physical attraction to achieve lasting love.
