Where do you look for happiness?

In relationships? In your work? In achievements?

By default, we are conditioned to seek happiness in external circumstances or others. This is a sure way to lead us farther from happiness that closer to it. When you seek happiness outside of you it is always temporary and conditional. The other side of the coin is disappointment, sadness or even heartache.

In eastern wisdom traditions, they teach that our natural state is happiness. We are merely experiencing a suppression of it when we expect our life to be perfect outside.

A huge misconception is that we cannot enjoy the things in life. In fact, if we practice non-attachment we will have more joyful experiences in life not less.

That is, if we remember that we bring happiness to those experiences, they don’t bring it to us. If you can see how your mind is a mirror to your outer life, you can quickly see how to reclaim true power and happiness that lasts.

You will see you had the power all along to be happy.

In our next Soul Sessions: A Jungian Coaching podcast, we explore the topic of happiness in “Unlocking Joy: The Psychology and Philosophy of Happiness.” Discover the difference between modern and depth psychology’s views on happiness, and learn how Eastern philosophy offers a unique perspective on finding bliss.

In this episode, you’ll discover:

  • Joy as a Natural State: Happiness is our natural state, achievable regardless of life circumstances.
  • Modern Vs. Depth: Modern psychology views happiness as a result of neurobiology, while depth psychology focuses on the unconscious mind.
  • Ananda and Non-Attachment: Explore the concept of Ananda, or bliss, as our true nature and how non-attachment can lead to deeper joy.
  • Practical Exercises: Debra shares the practice of “neti neti” to help disengage from the ego and access pure awareness.
