“Fear limits creativity; facing it frees up potential.” – Dr. Rob Maldonado
If you want to become a life coach and wonder how you can help others, listen to our recent Soul Sessions podcast episode to explore how our unique Jungian coaching model is the future of coaching.
What happens in the brain when we operate in fear?
Our higher-cognitive function is limited and we move into survival mode. This means we aren’t creative but rely on the past conditioning to drive our responses. Chronic fear leads to a pattern of avoidance.
When there is an urgency to change, we are driven into action to make it happen which is a good thing. But, if the fear is too great, we end up sabotaging ourselves and avoiding the things that would help us change.
Fear creates resistance to change.
The easiest way to recognize fear is to look at areas in your life that cause frustration. You will notice that the more frustrated you are, the less progress you make in creating change.
To create change, you must face the fear.
Examine why you are frustrated. What is the fear that is driving your decisions in life?
Get curious about it rather than run from it.
In our next podcast episode, Fear to Freedom: Neuroscience of Emotion, we explore:
- Understanding Fear in the Brain: The role of the amygdala in fear responses and how it limits access to higher cognitive functions.
- The Power of Coaching: The importance of facing uncomfortable emotions as a pathway to transformation.
