Can you be effective as an Emotionally-sensitive coach?
Listen to this episode continuing our series of the Big Five Personality Traits as we discuss the trait of Neuroticism as it relates to coaching.

If you want to become a life coach and wonder how you can help others, listen to our recent Soul Sessions podcast episode to explore how our unique Jungian coaching model is the future of coaching.

Do you define yourself as emotionally-sensitive and have been told that this is a bad thing?

Emotional-sensitivity is when you are in touch with your emotions. The level of sensitivity is a spectrum and extreme sensitivity can be a challenge. However, it doesn’t mean you are broken, or damaged and you can learn to transform your relationship with emotions so you feel more in your power.

One end of the spectrum is someone who is not emotional and not in touch with the subtle urges of their unconscious mind. The other end is the overly sensitive where they get swept away emotionally without control. Both can be limiting as a coach.

The key is balance. If you can learn to see the emotions as neutral (not good or bad), just psychic energy, then you can begin to work with them in a powerful and transformative way. Your default is only your past conditioning. You can change how you interact with the world around you and your inner self with coaching.

Coaching Questions:

What emotion am I afraid to feel?

How has avoiding this emotion limited my life?

Discover how emotional sensitivity can be a powerful tool for personal and professional growth. In this episode, Debra Maldonado and Dr. Rob Maldonado conclude their series on the Big Five Personality traits and the Persona with an enlightening discussion on neuroticism (emotional sensitivity) and its impact on coaching.

Exploring emotional awareness and resilience, we redefine what it means to embrace rather than shy away from our feelings. In this episode, we discuss:

  • The true definition of neuroticism and its importance in emotional sensitivity
  • The role of resilience and shadow integration in handling life’s challenges
  • How emotions like anger, shame, and guilt can be useful when properly understood
  • Techniques for coaches to harness emotional intelligence for greater effectiveness
