When most people feel fear they default to the three primal responses: Fight, Flight or Freeze.
You can fight the fear by struggling with it and trying to “tame” it.
You can run from it and avoid anything in life that would be scary.
You can stay stuck in indecision and ambiguity as to what your next move is.
All of these responses are protective, not creative.
What if there was another way to work with fear AND be able to create something new in your life?
Anything new whether it is a new career, relationship, home, city or even a new approach to inner work will elicit fear from your ego.
Your ego is designed for the status quo and safety. It will gladly guard you from change and will come up with the most incredible stories and rationalizations to keep you from making a move that may be the key to changing your life.
Is your ego the enemy? No.
The ego is just doing its job. The ego doesn’t have any creative ideas except how do I keep you safe and socially acceptable.
Coaching Question:
What is something that you KNOW you should be doing but hear those excuses in your head that tell you it isn’t reasonable or encourage you to postpone your dreams?
Notice the feeling when you think of change that arises. If you can access that feeling, you can begin to examine the fear and make it conscious.
