In this episode of JUNG ON PURPOSE, Debra Maldonado and Dr. Rob explore the concept of the collective unconscious, a key element in Jungian psychology. They discuss its significance, how it differs from the collective consciousness, and its impact on personal and cultural patterns. The conversation delves into the role of archetypes, the influence of the collective unconscious on our lives, and how understanding these concepts can lead to personal growth and a deeper connection with humanity.
If you want to become a life coach and wonder how you can help others, listen to our recent JUNG ON PURPOSE podcast episode (previously named Soul Sessions) to explore how our unique Jungian coaching model is the future of coaching.
Have you ever felt that people you meet regardless of where they are from or what their early life was like that there is a common thread that ties you together?
Jung said that we were not born a blank slate but born with what he called the “Collective Unconscious.” Think of a vast ocean and your individual self is just a bubble on the top of the wave of that ocean.
Most of the patterns and behaviors in our life did not originate from personal experiences but from something much deeper – archetypal influences. Archetypes are forces deep within the psyche that are transpersonal. The personal experience is a superficial layer that covers these forces and makes us feel limited and unfulfilled.
In the next JUNG ON PURPOSE podcast episode, “Collective Unconscious: Connecting with Humanity’s Shared Wisdom,” we explore the concept of the collective unconscious, a key element in Jungian psychology. They discuss its significance, how it differs from the collective consciousness, and its impact on personal and cultural patterns. The conversation dives deep into the role of archetypes, the influence of the collective unconscious on our lives, and how understanding these concepts can lead to personal growth and a deeper connection with humanity.
